Founder and Coach of the Kilkenny Spartans Volleyball Club, Benny O'Regan has been involved in Volleyball since his college days from 2001 at UCD.
Before setting up the Spartans VC in August 2018, Benny has been heavily involved on the Irish Volleyball scene, predominantly with UCD both at University level and National level, winning numerous League, Cup and Varsity titles along the way. He now plays his volleyball with IT Carlow in the Premier Men's League, while merging the two clubs together to help expand the volleyball community in the South East of Ireland.
He has represented Ireland at indoor volleyball level between 2010-12, and he is a current international player for Beach Volleyball and Teqvoly.
While still active as a player, Benny also coaches volleyball at university level. Formerly known as a coach with UCD and DCU for many years, he moved his volleyball coaching base to the South East where he coaches students at Waterford IT & IT Carlow while also providing a gateway for those student players to join the Spartans Women's Team, who compete in the Volleyball Ireland Division 2 League.
Benny is also a National Level qualified volleyball referee where he officiates all matches in Ireland from top down. Next year, he will be eligible to referee at International level.
Since Quarantine, he has led some creative online initiatives including winning the Volleyball Ireland Club Quaran-team Challenge, and the "Digging Challenge" charity competition in aid of TEAC TOM, always with the aim of promoting positive mindset and healthy well being
